Celebration of India’s 74th Independence Day in Bali 

The 74th Independence Day of India was celebrated on August 15,2020 (Saturday) at 9.00AM. Consul General Prakash Chand, unfurled the Indian National Flag which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, Consul General addressed the guests and read out the address to the Nation by the Honourable President of the Republic of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind on the eve of India’s 74th Independence Day.

The ceremony was attended by the officials of the Consulate and their family members as well as small gathering of guests while observing the social distancing norms. The celebration was live streamed from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels of the Consulate and were joined by various Indian community members and friends of India from their homes and shared their fervor to the nation.

The celebration was also enlivened by virtual performances through videos of Dr. Pompi  Paul, the dance teacher of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centrein Bali (SVCC Bali), who presented Odissi Dance from a poem written by Director of SVCC Bali Manohar  Puri, sang by famous Poet Gajendra Salanki. The second performance was also by Dr. Pompi Paul with Balinese Dancer Malissa Florance  Schillevoont on India National Song, Vande Mataram. 

The address to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort was also live-streamed at the Consulate and shared on the social media.
