There are some agriculture productions in the regions such as rice, corn (maize), cassava, rubber, and copra (dried coconut meat). In the manufacturing sector, the regions produce processed foods and beverages, chemicals, rubber goods and furniture. In the mining sector, there are gold, iron ore, diamonds, and coal. Petroleum, rattan, rubber, timber, and gutta-percha (latex from trees of the sapodilla family) are among the notable exports.
The capital city is Banjarmasin with Banjarese as the main ethnic group. The province also has a significant and diverse population of indigenous peoples.
