The population mainly involved in agriculture sector, with corn (maize), rice, coconuts, sugarcane, candlenuts, cocoa, cloves, and coffee as the main field crops. In horticulture, their products include bananas, papayas, mangoes, chili peppers, tomatoes, turmeric, ginger, orchids and other decorative plants. Offshore fisheries yield mostly skipper, snapper, tuna, and mackerel. Since much of the land is forest-covered, rattan is plentiful and one of the major industries in Gorontalo.
