Rice, sugarcane, and coffee are the main crops produced in the regions. Among the forest products are rattan and timber. The regions’ manufacturing industry produce wood carving, mat, basket, food processing, printing, leatherworking, rice milling, and gold and silver filigree working.
The main ethnic groups in Southeast Sulawesi are Bugis, Butonese, Bungku, and Muna in both coastal and inland regions. The major religion of the population is Islam.
